Friday Favorites: 04/08/22

Happy Friday friends, and welcome back to the Friday Favorites segment! It has been several weeks since the last blog post. I was visiting my family Amelia Island, Florida for a while, and then I was feeling sick for about two weeks. We also started market back last weekend for the coffee cart, and so it has been a whirlwind! My first focus is always the coffee cart, so the blog had to be put on the back burner. I have also just been feeling off since I first got sick. I have been struggling with motivation for things as of late, so I am trying to prioritize rest and Sabbath as well as make sure I am moving my body and getting outside every day. Since I have missed a couple weeks, some of these favorites may be from the week before, etc.

Books

I have been making a dent on the large stack of library books I have sitting on my desk right now! I have been in a big fantasy young adult book kick. These books are easy and fun and entertaining. I truly love all books, but since I have been feeling off, these books have brought me the most joy. I just recently finished The Girl of Fire and Thorns series by Rae Carson. It is a 3 book series featuring a strong and powerful female lead, Elisa, and her journey to fulfill this prophecy. It features magic and romance and friends that are more like family. I thought it was a great series, and it was definitely a binge read as I finished the entire series in just a few days. I also picked up Gallant by V.E. Schwab at one of the local bookstores in Amelia Island. It only just recently came out, but I have heard great things. It sounds like a YA mystery, so I am excited to start reading it!

Hiking

I have always loved and will always love hiking. Since I grew up hiking in the outdoors, it is very sentimental and nostalgic for me. But mostly, I love that it gives me true quality time with whomever I am with! It is the perfect time to bond and discuss things or just enjoy each other’s company in silence. Yesterday I went with my friend Kaley to finally hike Stone Mountain! I have never been to Stone Mountain, or at least if I went, I was too young to remember. The hike was definitely a moderate intensity, and I would not recommend it if you have bad joints because most of it was going straight up the mountain. But the views at the top were spectacular!!! It was such a cool place to visit, and I would definitely recommend it if you have never been!

Nike Women’s Air Max SC Running Shoes

I bought these shoes a couple of weeks ago at Academy. It was the literal last size of these shoes in this color in the entire store. I have never received so many compliments on a pair of shoes in my life! They are the perfect lifestyle shoes, and while they are technically labeled as “running” shoes, the most I would do is train in them. I have never been a big NIke shoe fan, but I am currently obsessed with these!

Southwest Ground Beef and Sweet Potato Skillet

I made this dish for Nathan and I a couple weeks ago for dinner, and we loved it! It is super simple, yet incredibly flavorful. It is also decently healthy, and there are plenty of ways to customize it. I topped mine with greek yogurt and avocado slices, and it was literal perfection. I loved the dish so much that I made it this week for lunch!

Podcasts

One of my favorite podcasts is “But What’s Next? with Michelle Reed.” I watch MIchelle’s Youtube videos, and I love her minimalistic and faith-based views on life. She is someone who inspires me and motivates me to draw closer to my faith, my home, and my family. Her episode this week titled “How I Regained My SPARK for Life! My Recent Mindset & Lifestyle Shifts for Living a More Abundant Life” was definitely something I needed to hear.

Music

I am not much of a Harry Styles fan, but his new song “As It Was” has been living rent free in my head all week! It has such a fun and chill vibe to it. The beat is so catchy, and it is the perfect song to run to! Johnnyswim also released their new album today, which contains some songs they have already released as well as some new songs! I’ve only listened to a couple songs so far, but I am the biggest Johnnyswim fan, so I would definitely recommend giving it a listen!
