Grand Floridian Cafe is the perfect mix of casual, yet elegant dining in one of Disney’s most beautiful resorts, the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. The Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is located on the Magic Kingdom monorail loop, and it is actually the very last stop on your way to the Magic Kingdom. At the Grand Floridian Cafe, you will feel like you are a royal with the elegant design, and you will feel at home while feasting on Mickey waffles and being surrounded by family and friends.
I have been dreaming of trying out the Grand Floridian Cafe, mostly because I had no idea it existed till earlier last year. When planning our trip last fall, I knew this was a must on our dining list. We booked reservations for a Saturday morning in September before park opening, and it was completely empty. Grand Floridian Cafe accepts walk-ins, which shows how easy it is to book a reservation or come for a quick breakfast before your park day at the Magic Kingdom! Because of this, our service was incredibly fast, and we were out of the resort in 30 minutes.
The style of the entire restaurant is Victorian with chandeliers and large windows that allow light to flood the room. This restaurant is deceivingly small, but it actually stretches very far, and there is even a view of the gardens and pool area for those sitting at the back. We started off our breakfast with all the coffee we could get in the beautiful mugs they provide.
The food options are very family-friendly and perfect for any classic Disney fan in need of a big meal before a long park day. They brought out free biscuits to start off our meal with homemade butter and a peach-flavored spread that was literally incredible. The biscuits tasted fresh and homemade, and it felt like we were sitting in a Southern woman’s kitchen for breakfast. They have a ton of drink options including a range of cocktails and juices. Many of the offerings on the food menu are brunch style with salads, soups, savory entrees, and egg benedicts. Other menu options include a classic egg breakfast, steak and eggs, pancakes, Mickey shaped waffle (highly suggest this), and french toast. The best part about the Grand Floridian cafe is the toppings that you can add to your pancakes, waffles, or french toast! They have three different options, each with three unique toppings and a syrup. One topping set is oranges, dried cranberries, chantilly cream and citrus-pecan syrup. The next topping set is strawberries, sugar cookie crumbles, whipped cream, and strawberry sauce. The last set you can add on to your entree is blueberries, granola, lemon curd, and blueberry sauce.
Overall we absolutely loved our dining experience at the Grand Floridian Cafe. It was the perfect way to relax and enjoy a nice, quiet meal before being surrounded by crowds all day. There are not many sit-down dining options at Disney where you can walk in and eat a meal without any reservations (especially when they are literally minutes away from the parks). Also the Grand Floridian Resort is easily one of the most beautiful resorts on property, so I take any chance I can get to explore this resort more. I would also take the breakfast at Grand Floridian Cafe over a breakfast in the Magic Kingdom any day. So make sure to order the Mickey waffle with all the sugary toppings and get ready to have the best day ever at the Magic Kingdom after your peaceful, cozy morning at the stunning Grand Floridian Cafe!
