2019 Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party:

Attractions and Entertainment

For the first time in 14 years, there will be a new Halloween fireworks show debuting at the Magic Kingdom this year, “Disney’s Not So Spooky Spectacular”! This high-tech fireworks spectacular usually starts around 10:15, and it will only be offered once a night. It will star Jack Skellington as the host and then will follow Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Goofy as they enter into a mysterious haunted house. The Hocus Pocus Villain Spectacular, starring the Sanderson Sisters and some of the most beloved Disney villains, will be returning this year and usually has 3-4 showtimes a night (August and September showtimes last year: 8:30, 10:45, midnight and October showtimes last years: 8:00, 8:35, 10:45, and 12:00). The later the showtime, the more likely you will find a close watching spot just 10-15 minutes before the show starts! The Hocus Pocus Villain Spectacular is a cannot miss show for any Hocus Pocus loving fans. A fan favorite, Mickey’s Boo to You Halloween Parade, happens twice nightly, usually at 9:15 and 11:15. During Mickey’s Boo to You Halloween parade, you will get to see the Headless Horseman, hitchhiking ghost, and many classic Disney villains. The parade follows a typical Magic Kingdom parade route, starting by Splash Mountain, going through Frontierland, around the castle hub, and finally down Main Street USA.

Fastpass+ is not available during the Halloween party, but the party usually does offer shorter wait times for all rides that are open (including Seven Dwarfs Mine Train). Only about 50% of Magic Kingdom’s attractions are open during the event (they will all be listed in the map and times guide), but most of the physical rides are open during the event. A couple of the rides will have special Halloween-inspired overlays to add even more excitement to the night. The rides listed so far for 2019 with Halloween overlays include Pirates of the Caribbean (featuring live pirates), Space Mountain (in TOTAL darkness), and Mad Tea Party (with special lighting and music). New to this year’s Halloween Party, Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor will receive a special Halloween enhancement, as the monsters learn about this crazy human holiday we call Halloween. Some of the special characters you can meet during the Halloween Party usually include Jack Skellington and Sally, the Seven Dwarfs, Cruella De Vil, Tarzan, Jane, Terk, Jafar, and Lotso. For some of the popular characters, wait times can range anywhere from an hour to several hours, so plan accordingly if your party desperately wants to meet some of the characters.

The Scream-O-Ween Ball is one of two dance parties that occur during the 2019 Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. This ball takes place at the stage in Tomorrowland and includes a DJ, Monsters Inc. characters, and special lighting. The second dance party is gearing towards younger children with the Storybook Circus Disney Junior Jam. It will feature some favorite Disney Junior characters including Nancy Clancy, Vampirina, and Doc McStuffins, and the dance party will be tucked away in Storybook Circus. If you are a fan of the Dapper Dans, make sure to check out the Cadaver Dans who will be performing in Frontierland during the party.

For those willing to spend the extra money for a no-hassle perfect fireworks viewing spot, Disney will be offering a ticketed Not So Spooky Spectacular Dessert Party this year at the Tomorrowland Terrace. This dessert party will feature special themed desserts dazzling views of the fireworks show. Ticket prices are $84 plus tax for ages 10 and up and $50 plus tax for ages 3 through 9.

For those willing to spend money for a reserved seating view of Mickey’s Boo-to-You Halloween Parade, Disney will be offering a new ticketed event, Cruella’s Halloween Hide-A-Way. This event will be located at Tony’s Town Square on Main Street USA. Guests will be able to snack on treats and indulge in both unlimited alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages (which will run until 12:30 AM). There will be a PhotoPass photographer just for the party. And you will get a special reserved viewing spot for the Boo-to-You Halloween Parade. The price for this ticketed event is $99.

2019 Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party:

Trick-or-Treating, Special Food, & Merchandise

Treat locations usually change depending on the year. For the most accurate locations for trick-or-treating, make sure to grab a map and times guide when you enter into the park! Each specific location offering treats will be listed on this map, and there are usually 1-3 different treat spots in each “land” of the Magic Kingdom. The trick-or-treating lasts throughout the entire party, from 7 PM to 12 AM. At the spots you usually enter a queue and walk up to a cast member who will place a handful of treats in your bag. These lines at certain times and locations can get very backed up so be mindful of that when trick-or-treating. Almost always the candy is some form of chocolate. If anyone in your party needs a teal allergy friendly bag, you can ask for one at any of the treat stops. There are only a couple allergy friendly treat locations where you can trick-or-treat and those will be specifically designated on your map and times guide. You can collect teal tokens at the treat stations that are not allergy friendly that can later be redeemed for allergy-friendly treats.

While many people do dress up in costume (which Disney has very specific rules about, follow this link to learn about costume regulations), there are a majority that is in regular park attire with just a Halloween touch here and there (like Halloween inspired ears or a light up necklace). When you enter into the park down Main Street, you will be given a special candy bag to use for trick-or-treating! While a great souvenir, this bag usually cannot fit all the candy you will want so I highly suggest bringing a sturdier, larger bag of your choosing to the event.

There is special merchandise that can only be purchased during the 2019 Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. These items will be available exclusively at the Emporium on Main Street and at Big Top Souvenirs in Fantasyland. Exclusive pins are available at Frontier Trading Post in Frontierland.

Disney has not yet released the special food options that will be available at this years Halloween Party. Some of the food items from last year’s party included the Not-So-Poison apple cupcake (spiced apple cake with buttercream), a Mickey-shaped Halloween cinnamon roll, a Mickey pumpkin cheesecake, a Minnie witch brownie, hitchhiking ghost dessert (cream puff with cookies and cream mousse), Maleficent lime soft serve in a cone, candy corn ice cream, and a candy corn milkshake.
